The first African UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has been named Chief Advisor for a top South American government research institute as UNESCO Laureate bagged award, honored by the National Academy of History of Ecuador, South America as he Commended the leadership of the global Institute for such uncommon global recognition, award accorded to him.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from the first African UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being Wednesday, April 22, 2026 as he Commended the leadership of National Academy of History of Ecuador, South America for his recently global recognition by the institute.
Professor Sir Bashiru Aremu Spoke to our reporter on the international appointment, global award, while promising commitment and selfless service as Honorary Foreign Academician and International Advisor as part of the foreign institute’s recognition of his academic career and collaboration with the century-old institution.
In the words of Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu: “I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Research Institute for this global award, recognition and appointment which was recently made in Quito, Republic of Ecuador, on April 13, 2026. It was signed by Dr. Franklin Barriga López, Honorary Director, and C.A. Ingrid Díaz Patiño, Secretary-Coordinator. I promised to bring in experience, innovation, creativity, more commitment and selfless service for the growth and development of the global reputable institute”.
“I must once again commend the leadership once again for recognizing my contributions to international education, Research and Innovation. Professor Aremu is a Nigerian academic and the first African UNESCO Laureate recognized for contributions to global education. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and quadruple post-doctoral degrees. His leadership roles include World Grand President of the International Chartered World Learned Society Inc., USA, and Africa Head of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council, an official partner of the United Nations”.
‘UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu serves as Chairman and Member of the Accreditation Panel of some Nigerian universities, appointed by the National Universities Commission in Abuja. He is also Africa Chairman of the Cybercop Global Council Africa Region, a subsidiary of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council. His awards included amongst others are: The Global Golden Medal and Certificate from UNESCO, the title of World Acclaimed Distinguished Professor Emeritus conferred by UNESCO, ICWLS, and the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and the Prestigious Research Professor Award 2024 from IPHREC”.
“The National Academy of History of Ecuador is a prestigious institution based in Quito and located at Av. 6 de Diciembre 21-218. It is dedicated to the study, research, and dissemination of Ecuadorian history. The academy brings together distinguished historians and academics to promote national identity and preserve historical heritage”.
“The academy publishes the Boletín de la Academia Nacional de Historia, a biannual publication featuring historical research, articles, and speeches from academicians. Dr. Franklin Barriga López serves as Director Emeritus, and Jorge Nuñez Sanchez has been a prominent figure in its leadership. The institution organizes academic conferences and collaborates with bodies such as the Pan American Institute of Geography and History”.
