In a significant development, the First African UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has congratulated Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello on his recent appointment as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from the Africa Head & Chairman Board of Governing Council, Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council, UNACCC, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 as he Commended President Tinubu for recognizing Bello’s long term service of contributing to Nation-building, National development.
According to Prof Aremu, Hon Ambassador Bello’s Appointment is based on merit and well deserved, having distinguished himself as a global academia, world educator, scholar, reliable political leader, and an accomplished humanitarian, as well as community development expert .
Speaking to our reporter, UNESCO Laureate stated: “Hon. Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello’ is a man of excellence. He had served as Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Panama. He will bring a wealth of experience to his new role as OAU’s Chairman Board of Governing Council”.
“Hon. Ambassador Rafiu Adejare Bello’ has a strong background in politics. He has served as a member of the Osun State House of Assembly and Speaker of the House”.
