In a significant development, the First African UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has been appointed as the Africa Chairman of CyberCop Global Council for Africa Region.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being Tuesday, February 3, 2025 as contained in Prof Aremu’s appointment letter dated February 3, 2026.
This appointment recognizes Prof Sir Aremu’s outstanding contributions to education and his expertise in the field of cybersecurity.
Speaking to our reporter The First African UNESCO Laureate stated: “I, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu use this medium to express my appreciation to the entire Global Leaders of Unity of Nations Climate Change Council (UNACCC) on my appointment as the Chairman of Cybercop Global Council for African Region”.
“Cybercop Global Council is a global cybersecurity initiative under the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council (UNAccc), a partner of the United Nations”.
“The council’s primary objective is to build a safer digital world through vigilance, intelligence policing, and international cooperation. Its key focus areas include global cooperation, AI governance, cyber courts, and capacity building”.
“As the Africa Chairman of the Board of Trustees, UNACCC, I, Prof Sir Aremu will play a crucial role in shaping the council’s initiatives and strategies for the region”.
“I must sincerely commend this new development as regards my Appointment as the African Head of the Cybercop Global Council. My appointment is a clear evidence of leadership with foresight, skills and expertise in the field of cybersecurity”.
Prof Sir Aremu is a renowned academic and a world-recognized expert in computer science and information communication technology.
Accordingly to the newly appointed Chairman of The CyberCop Global Council, the Global organization is a forum that brings together international leaders, law enforcement veterans, and cybersecurity experts to address evolving cyber threats”.
“Cybercop Global Council initiatives aim to promote global cooperation, ensure AI systems follow ethical guidelines, and advocate for specialized cyber courts. The council’s capacity-building programs will also enhance the skills of law enforcement and cybersecurity professionals”.
Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu is a highly decorated academic with numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to education. He is a World Records Holder in various global organizations and has received the PHILANTHROPIST Award (2023), Global ICON Award (2023), and Outstanding Global Achievements Award (2023). He has also been recognized for his literary achievement with the International Shakespeare Award.
Prof Sir Aremu had stated that, he will work closely with international partners to address cybersecurity challenges in the region.
