The Osun State Governor, Ademola Jackson Adeleke, will be joined by two of Nigeria’s most revered traditional leaders, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, at the inauguration of Minaret University Ikirun’s new academic session.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being Tuesday, February 3, 2026 as he stated that the ceremony, scheduled for February 5, 2026, will also feature the investiture of the university’s pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
Speaking to our reporter, The First African UNESCO Laureate stated :”Minaret University Ikirun, Osun State, Nigeria is a private institution owned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at of Nigeria. The University was approved by the Federal Government and the National Universities Commission (NUC) in 2025″.
“Minaret University Ikirun offers a range of undergraduate programs across two faculties: Science & Computing, and Management & Social Sciences. The university’s vision is to pursue moral and intellectual development, equipping its graduates with the skills and knowledge necessary for success”.
“The Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat of Nigeria and Chancellor of Minaret University, Barrister Alatoye Azeez Folorunso, will officially present the pioneer Vice-Chancellor to the academic and host community in Ikirun. This marks a significant milestone in the university’s history, as it embarks on its academic journey”.
“The university’s Faculty of Science & Computing offers programs in Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, and Cyber Security, while the Faculty of Management & Social Sciences offers programs in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, and Logistics & Supply Chain Management. Admission requirements include a minimum UTME score of 150 and five O’Level credits in relevant subjects”.
“The inauguration ceremony will take place at the university’s mini campus site, which is owned by the global Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. This event underscores the university’s commitment to providing quality education and its potential to shape the future of Nigeria’s youth”.
The First African UNESCO Laureate and Founding Member Board of Trustees of Minaret University Ikirun, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu, has expressed his enthusiasm for the university’s launch.
Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu is a renowned academic and world records holder, Prof Sir Aremu’s involvement with the university is a clear evidence of the University’s commitment to academic excellence.
According to Prof Aremu, The Africa Head & Chairman Board of Trustees, UNACCÇ, the inauguration of Minaret University Ikirun marks a new chapter in the state’s educational landscape, with the potential to produce graduates who are well-equipped to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
