**********Int’l Conference On Data Protection: Aremu Commends Amuda-Kannike on Paper Presentation

Prof. Abiodun Amuda-Kannike, a renowned Nigerian law professor, has been commended by UNESCO Laureate, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, for his paper presentation at an international conference on data protection.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from the President, Africa Information Technology Consultancy Services (AITC), Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu today being Sunday, October 5, 2025 in a Telephone chat, conversation with our reporter being Sunday October 4, 2025 as he commended the leadership of African School of Economics, Abuja, Nigeria.
Prof Abiodun Amuda-Kannike is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), The Director at Department of Legislative Support Services (DLSS), National Institute For Legislative & Democratic Studies (NILDS), Abuja and pioneer Dean, Faculty of Law, Kwara State University, Malete, Via Ilorin Kwara State. The First African UNESCO Laureate had Commended his recent paper presentation in September month on the internet platform through zoom. He also, commended other dignitaries, participants who made the international conference colourful as sponsored by AITC.
Speaking to our reporter, Aremu had stated that the conference highlighted the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023, which provides a comprehensive framework for protecting personal data in Nigeria.
VC, CUICI, USA, who Commended the legal luminary to had hammered on the Key Provisions of the NDPA 2023 which outlines several key principles for data protection such as: Lawfulness, Fairness, and Transparency.
He said: ” I, UNESCO Laureate, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu sincerely commend my brother and and friend on this recent Paper presentation on Data Protection Laws in Nigeria. The law stipulates that Personal data must be processed in a lawful, fair, and transparent manner”.
“Other Dada protection Laws are: Purposeful Limitation and Data Minimization: That is, Personal data must be collected for specific, legitimate purposes and minimized to only what is necessary. And Accuracy and Storage Limitation: That Personal data must be accurate, kept up-to-date, and not stored for longer than necessary”.
UNESCO Laureate had quoted Amuda-Kannike’s lecture notes stated sections 23-26 of the Act as follows:
“Individual Rights to Data Protection: The NDPA 2023 provides individuals with certain rights regarding their personal data included amongst others are:Right to Access:-Individuals have the right to access their personal data held by data controllers and processors”.
“Also, Right to Correction: Individuals have the right to request correction or rectification of inaccurate personal data. Right to Erasure*: Individuals have the right to request the erasure of their personal data”.
Prof. Aremu then lauds Prof. Amuda-Kannike’s contribution to global legal sector development, describing him as a world-class legal luminary. The NDPA 2023 is expected to promote trust and confidence in Nigeria’s digital economy by providing a comprehensive framework for data protection.
