2027: ADC Delta Chapter Rejects INEC Candidates’ List

African Democratic Congress, ADC, Delta State Chapter led by its Chairman, Engr. Austin .C. Okolie, has rejected the list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the 2027 General Elections as Delta ADC describes lists as invalid and contrary to judicial pronouncements on the party’s leadership.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from Delta ADC leadership today being on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 in a press statement as co-signed by the State Chairman, Engr. Austine C. Okolie, and State Publicity Secretary, Bishop Obi Obiajulu as party leadership stated that it would not accept names of individuals presented by INEC as ADC candidates for Delta State.
The leadership of the party in the State argued that the publication undermines the legally recognized structure of the ADC in the state.ADC Delta Chapter stated that, it conducted credible primaries for National Assembly, Governorship, and State House of Assembly seats.
The statement by Delta ADC leadership reads in part: “We the leadership of ADC Delta State Chapter hereby State categorically that, the party would not accept the said list of candidates as published by INEC for the 2027 general elections in the State. The party primaries were monitored by INEC, security agencies, and the media, and winners emerged in line with the party’s constitution”.
“The results were duly submitted to INEC with relevant records made available to authorities for verification. Delta ADC anchored its position on subsisting court judgments, including a Federal High Court ruling and a subsequent decision by the Court of Appeal in Abuja, which affirmed the legitimacy of the recognized leadership and structure of the ADC in Delta State”.
“Delta ADC hereby emphasize categorically that any administrative action that ignores these pronouncements cannot stand.
Consequently, as party Delta ADC hereby issue a four-point demand to INEC. That the commission to immediately withdraw and correct the published lists”.
“Also, that INEC should publish the authentic list of candidates produced from the monitored primaries that reflects the legitimate candidates in its records. And that INEC should take steps to comply with relevant judicial decisions and the lawful party structure”.
“That Delta ADC leadership therefore gives INEC 72 hours from the date of the release to effect the corrections. Delta ADC however, hereby assure members and the public that the party would use both constitutional and legal means to protect the mandate of its candidates”.
Delta ADC leadership in the State had in the release enjoined party members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. “The on-going legal process should not be misconstrued as division within the party, but as a necessary step to defend democratic principles, the rule of law, and the integrity of the ADC in Delta State”, the party leadership concluded.
