*Yoruba Community in Delta State Commends Governor Oborevwori’s Achievements*

The Yoruba Community in Delta State, has expressed its appreciation for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, highlighting his numerous achievements in various sectors.

The media learnt this in an exclusive interview today being Friday, September 5, 2025 with Yoruba Community Leader, Asiwaju Famous Maroof (JP), and Alhaji Engr Waheed Kayode Yekini as group leaders commended the governor’s commitment to transforming Delta State.

Yoruba community leaders had highlighted some of the governor’s notable accomplishments which included amongst others are: The construction of over 513 roads and bridges, completion of the Ughelli-Asaba dual carriageway, and ongoing construction of three flyovers in Warri and Effurun. Additionally, the governor’s administration has improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by nearly 90%, reduced the debt profile by 46%, and created over 50,000 jobs through strategic partnerships with the African Development Bank (AfDB).

In the words of Yoruba Community Leader, Asiwaju Famous Maroof (JP): ” First and foremost, we commend the Governor to had appointed one of our Sons, Hon Ismah Heel Babatunde in his Government as Special Assistant SA on Non-indigene. This shows inclusivity in governance. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has also made significant strides in healthcare, allocating over N3 billion for modern diagnostic equipment, renovating over 250 primary health centers, and launching community-based health insurance schemes. In education, the governor has rehabilitated over 250 schools, recruited thousands of qualified teachers, and paid bursaries to over 32,000 students”.

Yoruba community leaders also highlighted the governor’s efforts in enhancing security through Operation Delta Sweep, donating 66 new vehicles, and improving street lighting. The State Advisory Peace-Building Council has also been established to promote peace and unity in the state.

The group leaders then appeal for even development,
while commending the governor’s achievements. Yoruba Community in Delta State has also, urged the Governor to make even development and equal distribution of wealth a watchword for socio-economic growth and development. They also appealed to the governor to work with all non-indigene groups in the state for sustainable development.

The community leader made a special appeal to the governor, requesting the construction of the Mosque Road off Nnebisi Road in Asaba, which is currently in a dilapidated state. They urged the governor to come to the aid of Muslims in the area by constructing the road.

Finally, the Yoruba Community in Delta State expressed their happiness with Governor Oborevwori’s administration and called on him to continue his good works, promoting economic empowerment for youths, women, non-indigenes, and other vulnerable citizens. They wished him success in his future endeavors and appreciated all Deltans for making peace and unity their watchword in the multi-ethnic society.
