As part of efforts to consolidate the significance roles played by TSSNL’ Chairman, Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo (A.k.a TOMPOLO) towards ensuring reduced Crude Oil Theft, Pipeline Vandalism as regards the protection of nation’s critical infrastructure, promoting Advanced security through pipeline surveillance, ensuring Youths Job creation; massively reducing Youths unemployment, promoting improved crude oil production, peace and security in the Niger-Delta, Nigeria in general, The Chairman/CEO, Safenet Security Solution Limited and a UK based Security Consultant, Dr (Chief) Oghene-Ovo Amurun, has appealed to the federal government to renew the pipeline surveillance contract currently being executed by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).

Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from a UK based Security Consultant, Dr. Amurun in a press statement which was made available to Journalists in Asaba, Delta State capital today being on Monday, March 23, 2026, has said that there was need for consistency in the federal government drive to stop crude oil theft and increase production to over 2 million barrels per day(bpd) this year as he appealed to President Tinubu to renew TANTITA’s Pipeline Surveillance Contract.

Dr. Amurun recalled that before
private pipeline surveillance contractors like Tantita were appointed in August 2022, Nigeria’s crude oil production had dropped sharply because of massive oil theft and pipeline vandalism.

The release by Chief Dr. Oghene-Ovo Amurun reads in part: “Nigeria’s production level before the contracts was around 800,000 – 900,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 2022. At some points it even fell to about 637,000 bpd, while some reports indicated that it temporarily dipped to about 650,000 bpd due to severe pipeline breaches and illegal bunkering activities”.

“That is, Nigeria was producing roughly 0.65 – 0.95 million barrels per day before the surveillance contracts. However, after Tantita and others were hired by the Nigerian government and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to protect pipelines, production rose to about 1.0 million bpd by late 2022, and later increased to about 1.4 – 1.5 million bpd”.

“By 2025, production had reached about 1.5 – 1.6 million bpd, reflecting a steady recovery in Nigeria’s oil output following improved pipeline monitoring and security operations. The introduction of Tantita’s pipeline surveillance has significantly strengthened monitoring of critical oil infrastructure across the Niger Delta”.

“By working closely with host communities and security agencies, the company has helped improve intelligence gathering, deter illegal bunkering activities, and rapidly detect pipeline breaches. This collaborative approach has contributed to reducing oil theft and restoring greater stability to Nigeria’s oil production system”, he concluded
