The First African UNESCO Laureate, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, has extended his warmest congratulations to Prof. Oguntola Jelil Alamu on his recent appointment as Provost of the Postgraduate College at Osun State University.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in telephone conversation with our reporter today being Wednesday, January 7, 2026 as he stated that Prof Alamu’s appointment is an evidence of his exceptional leadership skills and academic expertise.
UNESCO Laureate who then quoted a part from Alamu’s Letter of appointment as received from the Registrar of Osun State University which read as follows: “Vice-Chancellor has approved his appointment as Acting Provost of the Postgraduate College, effective January 5, 2026”.
Speaking further to our reporter he said: “First and foremost, I appreciate God almighty for making your appointment as Acting Provost of Postgraduate College, Osun State University, Osogbo (UNIOSUN) as he pray God to protect him, give him sound health, excellent wisdom and success as new Provost of Postgraduate College, Osun State University, Osogbo.
“I, The First African UNESCO Laureate also, use this medium to congratulate you on your well deserved appointment. No doubt, the appointment is an evidence of your decades of commitment to academic excellence, research and innovation as well as leadership prowess as an Int’l educator, seasoned scholar and innovator”
“Prof. Alamu is a renowned Nigerian academic and mechanical engineer, with a distinguished career in research and education. Prof. Alamu’s research focuses on Thermodynamics of materials, Fluid flow, and Renewable energy, with notable contributions to biodiesel production from Nigerian palm kernel oil”.
“He has published over 50 scholarly works, with one publication ranked among the “Top 25 most downloaded Articles” in Fuel by ScienceDirect. Prof. Alamu has also held various leadership positions, including Acting Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Acting Director of Academic Planning, and Acting Dean, Faculty of Engineering”.
“Prof. Alamu has received numerous awards and recognition for his outstanding contributions to academia. These include the Global Golden Award Packages from the International Chartered World Learned Society USA with Life Fellow, Award of Academic Excellence by LAUTECH Alumni Association, and Distinguished Personality Award by LAUTECH Muslim Graduate Association”.
“Prof. Alamu has also been conferred with several traditional titles, including Asiwaju Odo of Iwoland, by Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Oluwo of Iwoland, and other high traditional titles across the Yoruba land. These titles are a testament to his respect and influence in his community”.
