Nigerian academic and The First African UNESCO Laureate, Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, has been conferred with the Fellowship Award of the Liberia National Academy of Letters and Arts (LNALA), Monrovia, Liberia as he Commended Academy’s leadership on global recognition.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online) learnt this from the World Records Holder, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu in a telephone conversation with our reporter today being on Sunday, May 24, 2026 as he Commended the Academy’s leadership on global recognition, promises innovation, research, creativity, more commitment and selfless service to the Academy.
Speaking to our reporter, Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu who commended the leadership of the Academy for global recognition and National honor, had stated that Liberia National Academy of Letters and Arts was founded by Liberian educators and cultural advocates to promote intellectual and artistic excellence in the country.
In his words: “LNALA was originally established as a small circle of writers and artists, the Academy grew under the leadership of Dr. Ishmael L. Togbah, who restructured it into a formally registered national institution. Today, LNALA serves as Liberia’s foremost body for recognizing excellence in literature, arts, culture, and scholarship”.
“The vision of LNALA seeks to preserve and promote Liberia’s literary, artistic, and cultural heritage while inspiring creativity and innovation across generations. Its mission includes supporting writers, artists, and scholars, encouraging research and publication, and fostering national and international collaboration in the creative and cultural sectors”.
“The Academy’s objectives covers the recognition of outstanding contributions to literature and the arts, the organization of symposia and exhibitions, and the preservation of Liberia’s artistic heritage. It also provides mentorship and training for emerging artists, students, and scholars, while partnering with universities and cultural organizations worldwide”.
“Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu is recognized as the first African UNESCO Laureate for his contributions to global education. He holds quadruple post-doctoral degrees and a PhD in Computer Science”.
“The First African UNESCO Laureate & World Records Holder has served in several international leadership roles such as: World Grand President of the International Chartered World Learned Society, Africa Head of the Unity of Nations Action for Climate Change Council, and Chairman of accreditation panels for Nigerian universities appointed by the National Universities Commission”.
“Prof Sir Bashiru Aremu’s awards included amongst others are: A Global Golden Medal and Certificate from UNESCO, the title of World Acclaimed Distinguished Professor Emeritus, and the 2024 Prestigious Research Professor Award from IPHREC.
