In the release Engr. Okolie said: “It is deeply troubling to intimidate a peaceful and law-abiding opposition party”.
“It is democratically wrong and a clear sign of desperation taken too far. Opposition remains the beauty of democracy, and no democracy can thrive where intimidation and violence are encouraged.”
The Delta ADC Chairman declared total solidarity with the Edo State ADC chapter and its leadership under Hon. Odion Kennedy, urging members to remain focused and calm in the face of provocation.
He emphasized that no amount of intimidation can stop the growing influence of ADC or derail the Nigeria Rescue Mission ahead of 2027.
Furthermore, he called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to caution those extremist amongst the ruling party across the states to desist from violence and ensure a better atmosphere for peace and security in the country to thrive.
The release by Engr Okolie reads in part:”The primary responsibility of any government is to secure lives and property. We call on Security agencies to fish out those behind the attack on ADC Edo State Chapter”.
Engr. Okolie stated further that while ADC remains calm and committed to democratic principles, its peaceful disposition should not be mistaken for weakness.
“No individual or party has a monopoly of violence. When you have a good product to market, you will not be afraid of other sellers in the market”.
He then urged Nigerians to rally around ADC as a credible alternative platform committed to good governance, development, and the protection of democratic values.
“When a government in power begins to behave like the opposition, then something is fundamentally wrong. Nigeria belongs to all of us, and no one is more Nigerian than the other. Democracy must be protected for the sake of posterity,” he concluded.
