The Chairman of the Chief Ovo Edewor Foundation, Chief Ogheneovo Edewor (JP), has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of former Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan whose regime as Governor of Delta State lasted between 2007-2015.
Royal Paradise Media (News Online)learnt this from Chief Edewor in a condolence message issued on Thursday, October 23, 2026, on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation, made available to journalists in Eku, Delta State.
In the statement, the Foundation described the late former governor as a distinguished medical doctor, a visionary administrator and a man of his word whose impact on Delta State will endure for generations.
The statement by Chief Edewor reads in part:
“We will forever remember Dr. Uduaghan for his historic intervention in the Eku Baptist Hospital in Ethiope East Local Government Area. Dr. Uduaghan came to Eku on November 2, 2009, not merely as Governor, but as a promise-keeper”.
“In his address on that day, late Uduaghan stated that he was in Eku to fulfil a promise he had made to our late elder statesman, industrialist and Life-time President General of the Eku Progressive Union, Late Chief James Ogboko Edewor, that he would take over the hospital for full rehabilitation and improvement. He declared, ‘I am here to fulfil my promise to Papa.’
“In honour of that pledge, the Eku Community handed over the Eku Hospital to the state government. One of the prominent figures at the event was the widow of Chief Edewor, Chief Mrs. Betty Edewor, who gave the handover speech on behalf of the people of Eku. Her remarkable speech moved the Governor, who praised her for her eloquence and passion for our community’s healthcare”.
“That hospital, later rebuilt and re-commissioned on May 31, 2014, with modern facilities including Accident & Emergency, CT scan and wards, remains Dr. Uduaghan’s enduring gift to Eku, Ethiope East and Delta State.”
“On behalf of the Board and members of the Foundation, I, Chief Edewor extends our sincere condolences to former first lady, , Mrs. Roli Uduaghan, the entire Uduaghan family, and the Government of Delta State and good people of Delta State. And we pray for the peaceful repose of his soul”, The statement concluded.
